Van Trang wins top 2 female at Y Tý Golden Season 2026: Moment conquering La Shen peak and response 'running with my legs not my mouth'

Van Trang reached the finish line at Y Ti (Photos and clips in the article provided by the character) The Y Ti Golden Season 2026 (September 6) witnessed one of the memorable moments in the trail running category. Overcoming the steep paths, Van Trang (nickname Jang Doll) excellently won the top 1 female 42km. More notably, this mother of 4 children born in 2026 also proudly took the top 2 overall position, surpassing almost all male runners (only lost to 1 person) when finishing with time 4 hours 26 minutes.
However, beside the proud title on the La Shen peak 2,860m above sea level, she also brought a wave of discussion through her very frank response to some netizens' gossip and negative comments about her appearance.
The 42km trail course at Y Ti (Lao Cai) has a total elevation gain of over 1,300m. The steep terrain and thin air in the highlands are always a nightmare for any runner.
Talking about the moment of exhausting strength to conquer the mountain, Van Trang shared with the reporter: "The 42km has some steep sections that make the body almost depleted of energy. At that time, I only focused on the path ahead, maintained breathing rhythm, distributed strength and supplemented energy at the right time. I always reminded myself: 'Stay calm, as long as there is strength, there is still hope'. This endurance comes from regularity and discipline. Besides running, I combine gym, swimming and supplementary exercises to accumulate physical strength daily".
Running with legs not by mouth!
Right after stepping down from the podium, Van Trang's image was unexpectedly brought up in some running groups for inappropriate discussion. Instead of praising the professional record, the crowd focused on her natural "1" under the tight sports outfit, even using the phrase "carrying two grapefruits running" to mock.
Not choosing to stay silent, the female runner immediately responded bluntly: "I said truthfully, who would carry two grapefruits running 42km or 55km mountain roads! I run with my legs, not because of appearance, why did they put me in this discussion group? People see pressure, I see it as 'vitamin C supplement' for spirit. The important thing is I still finished, still healthy. As for judging, judge away, I run with my legs, not by netizens' mouth!".
The runner from Hanoi straightly expressed the wish that the crowd should have a more civilized view of "sports beauties": "Female athletes in sports should first be recognized by effort and achievement. Appearance is each person's story, while achievement is the result of years of training. When looking at a girl on the running path, I hope everyone sees a person striving to conquer their own limits".
She declared: "Running with my legs, not by netizens' mouth!"
Facing the question whether to wear more modest or loose to avoid prying eyes, the champion of Y Ti decisively said: "Sports clothing must first be comfortable and safe. If I change myself only because of fear of comments, perhaps I will always have to live under others' eyes. I choose to focus on the running path and my goal. Marathon taught me that I don't always run in perfect conditions. Life is the same. Praise makes me happy, criticism helps me reflect, while malicious words I learn to ignore".
The glory at La Shen is over, the next goal of the mother of 4 is to conquer the more intense Ultra Trail category in the upcoming VMM 70km race and at the end of the year is the 100km event.
"Just let achievements speak. I don't need to become the version others want to see. As long as I become a better version of myself every day, it's enough", Van Trang expressed determination for the next journey.
