LCK 2026: Gen.G, Hanwha Life and T1 coaches name their fears before finals; AD carries bet on data and experience

At CHZZK LoL Park in Jonggak, Seoul, the three teams remaining in the 2026 LCK playoff picture – Gen.G Esports, Hanwha Life Esports and T1 – attended an official media day. Each organisation sent its head coach and two players, and the tone was far from diplomatic. According to Inven Global, coaches from all three teams gave specific answers about the threats they fear most. Gen.G head coach Yoo Sang-wook opened by explaining why handling T1 is difficult because of their ability to create variables, while Hanwha Life Esports causes trouble through aggressive plays such as bold attempts and tower dives. He singled out top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je and T1’s bot lane duo as the players who demand the most attention. Hanwha Life Esports head coach Yoon Sung-young focused heavily on the AD carry matchups. He praised Gen.G’s ability to stabilise when behind and mount comebacks, and pointed out that T1’s recent emphasis on top-side pressure has made them harder to read. T1 interim head coach Im Jae-hyeon said his team is closely monitoring Hanwha Life’s early top-lane priority and the snowball potential that follows. On Gen.G, he highlighted their organic macro play and identified the wide champion pool of Zeus along with Gen.G’s mid-jungle pairing as major concerns. The most interesting part of the day came when the three AD carries — Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong and Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan — evaluated one another. Gumayusi and Ruler both praised Peyz’s sharp teamfight instincts and ability to create plays from pure mechanics. Peyz, in turn, said both veterans possess vast data and bring an overwhelming sense of veteran experience to every game. Ruler described Gumayusi as a strong laning-phase player who finds clever reads during matches. Gumayusi highlighted Ruler’s accumulated game knowledge, damage angles and consistency. When asked about their own strengths, both said they prefer playing smart over entering a pure mechanical fight. Other stars also contributed valuable insight. Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok and Kim “Kiin” Ki-in took part in the same session. Kiin pointed out Kanavi’s unexpected aggressive movements as genuinely hard to counter, while Kanavi praised Kiin’s ability to fill any role, from tank to carry. Keria agreed on Kanavi’s unpredictability and added that Kiin is versatile across many matchups. One notable detail was Chovy’s Vex performance in Gen.G’s 3-1 victory over Hanwha Life in the upper bracket final. Even without attending media day, Chovy’s presence still loomed large. Looking at the most recent results, Hanwha Life Esports came from behind to beat T1 3-2 after trailing 1-2, proving that this roster is more composed than previous Hanwha Life squads. Gen.G then defeated Hanwha Life 3-1 with a bracket advantage. T1, after losing to Hanwha Life, must work through the lower bracket to reach the final. None of the coaches described any opponent as easy; all of them named specific players and strategic patterns. The finals are set to be a clash not just of mechanics, but of data preparation and in-game adaptation.
